About the  Conference

The first International Conference on Thin Films & Nanotechnology: Knowledge, Leadership, and Commercialization (ICTN-KLC): 2021 will be held online, during Aug 24-26, 2021. This conference is organized to take forward the legacy of Padma Shri Professor Kasturi Lal Chopra in motivating and nurturing young students to become dedicated scientists, leaders and entrepreneurs for paying back to the society via scientific discoveries, development of pathbreaking technologies and commercialization. The ICTN-KLC: 2021, the first one of its kind, aims to bring together students, academicians, scientists, technologists, and entrepreneurs working on development and applications of thin films and nanomaterials from lab to commercial (industrial) scale. The inaugural 3-days conference will be organized virtually from the foundation day of the Thin Film Lab (TFL). In addition to scientific talks, there will be sessions dedicated to research ethics, leadership, and entrepreneurship targeted mainly for early career researchers. The conference will consist of plenary/invited talks and contributed papers on various focus areas in Thin Films & Nanotechnology. There will be dedicated poster sessions where Ph.D. students/researchers will have an opportunity to present their work online to an international panel of experts and get feedback on their research ideas/results. The following focus areas have been identified for ICTN-KLC: 2021. Research scholars working in these areas are particularly encouraged to attend and present their work.

About the  Thin Film Lab

Thin Film Laboratory, IIT Delhi, founded and established by Professor K L Chopra in August 1970 on his return from USA, is internationally recognized as a Research School of Excellence in Science and Technology of Thin Films and related Nanomaterials. The Laboratory under the inspiring leadership of Prof. Chopra established facilities for thin film growth & nanostructure fabrication, analyses, device fabrication, and evaluation, all under one roof. The guiding philosophy of the Laboratory has been the attainment of research excellence targeted towards commercial applications.

Scope of the  Conference

Topics addressed in this conference include all aspects of Thin Film Growth; Coatings; Nanostructure Fabrication; Computational Simulations and Modeling of Thin Films; Advanced Thin Film Equipment & Process Development; Thin Films and Nanostructures for Emerging Quantum Devices; Thin Films and Nanostructures based Solar, Thermoelectric, Triboelectric, Piezoelectric, Electrochemical Energy Harvesting and Energy Storage Devices; Magnetic Memory and Spintronics; Sensors and Actuators; Optical and Biomedical Coatings; Epitaxial and Single Crystal Thin Films; 2D materials; Photocatalytic Thin Films and Nanomaterials; Application of Machine Learning and AI to Thin Films and Coatings etc. In addition, there will be dedicated sessions on Research Ethics and Leadership and Entrepreneurship.
